I really agree with the statement “Their ideas turn their products into symbols of community, advocacy, and shared-purpose.”… it’s been my experience that people *want* to support businesses they see as representing something larger than themselves. For a business to do so requires transparency and authenticity…anything else is quickly (and rightly) seen as b.s.

Just as I was clicking on this post, skimming e’s, I was thinking of events I’d organized in years past and said outloud to myself: “Life got quick and cheap and hard” – and then I read your post. Thank you so much for your clarity. You’ve hit so many nails on the head here, you have a mansion.

Ah, the fax machine. Le sigh.

Why, just yesterday, my bank *insisted* that I fax some perfectly-appropriate-to-email paperwork. “Seriously?!” I thought to myself, “Dude. It’s 2012″ .

She responded, “the fax is the ONLY way we do business”.

I quietly chuckled. I could tell she was not amused.

Yes, Tara! You are so inspiring. Keep coming across discussions re:
social entrepreneurship or those who with “their ideas turn their products into symbols of community, advocacy, and shared-purpose.” Makes me feel we are heading in the right direction in this 21st century.
