like i need another blog…

By tara gentile on 01/17/2010

Actually, I do need another blog. I need somewhere to record the behind-the-scenes, to share the bits & pieces I collect along the way that just don’t fit on the shelves of my other spaces, to experiment with innovative ideas, and to generally share me.

I plan to post here three times per week. Hopefully more. I promise not less.

Since I’ve encouraged others to blog their passion for 52 weeks, and that project starts with crafting a mission statement, I’d be remiss not to begin this new project with one.

My mission – both my personal and my mission for this space – is to support and encourage others to write well and create often. This space is a place for inspiration, tips, and a bit of soapboxing. Each time you visit, I hope you leave a little more motivated than before.

By the way, I reserve the right to alter that mission as this blog evolves. But you knew that.

A few notes on this blog design. The vast majority of this design was achieved through simple manipulation of CSS, including the nav bar and right sidebar. The goal was to achieve a simple, quick-loading layout that allowed me to play with some new-to-me techniques. If you have any questions about how I achieved this look, feel free to contact me!

My 1st impression – SHAZAAM! Simple – but the COLORS are AWESOME! LOVE the shades of blue and green you used, just the right amount of bright and dull that just pops against the white!

The mission – awesome! Perfectly put! Congrats on a beautifully simple design with a mission to match!

thanks so much, candy! i love the layout right now too :) but you can definitely expect it to change pretty frequently! this is the space i tend to come to when i need to “create” something just for me. so, it’s going to be my little playground…

I am so happy you are doing this!! I love it! I want to know how you DO IT ALL! Like Candy said, the color palette is gorgeous. I love the font and the bold headline. I really just can’t wait for more! Yay!

Ah! I like seeing how put to use the lessons you’ve taught us in “52 Weeks”. Great idea to give a personal touch to promoting your writing and designing skills. I also love seeing the farm pictures – especially spinning! It’s something I am going to try this year!
