I have a slew of posts ideas sloshing around in my head right now. Seriously, they’re coming out my ears.

But one thing that keeps nagging me is that I’d like to offer a bit of technical support for common questions. Some written tutorials, some video posts, and, yes, some ebook/video products coming soon.

So my question to you is: what do you want to know?

I’m self-taught – so I know you can learn a lot of this too! But truthfully, 15 months or so into this and I have no idea what your most pressing “technical” questions might be. You guys have supplied me with enough fabulous marketing/theory questions to keep me blogging for quite a long time – and I will try to get to each & everyone.

So, leave your questions in the comments! What do you want to know how to do? What terms and technical/internet services do you need explained?

Interesting question…My guess is that you might cover the things that people get to afraid to ask. Where do I begin? How do you register a domain? What’s a hosting company? What’s WordPress? How much does a website cost?

    I like Joseph’s idea!
I’m just starting a business of my own and these are definitely things that would be helpful!
Also, getting my name out there, making my blog cute and interesting, making a 3 column blog…

Quite a few people find graphic software like Photoshop and Illustrator (and their GNU and commercial counterparts) intimidating, so perhaps an on-going series of “How-T0″ tutorials geared toward the handmade community would be helpful to a lot of people.

The topics that fall under this umbrella are pretty broad, so you could go a while here, too. They could range on prepping photos for web or print, how to use certain functions within a program, or how to produce certain graphic effects. Sure, there are thousands of these tutorials on the web, but not too many that are geared toward crafters and handmade are that easy to find.

(Personally, I’d like to see how a handmade drawing can be converted into a vector graphic!)

Just my 2¢. . . though it’s probably more like $5. I hope it was well spent! ;-)

My biggest questions at the moment relate to SEO and bringing more traffic to each of my websites. I have been reading books and scouring the internet for information, but a lot of what I come across online must be paid for. I have no problem paying someone for quality information (such as your e-book!). However, my budget is limited and I can’t afford (nor do I want) to pay for every bit of SEO information I come across.

With that in mind, my question is this:

Where is the best place to go to find quality information for beginners to SEO? I know that quality content is the best way to bring people to you, and that active participation in the online world will help develop a following, but what else can be done to spread the word about your (hopefully!) quality content?

Thank you so, much, Tara! I so appreciate all you do to spread knowledge and to help others!

    xoxo,

    Katherine

Phew! I knew if I waited a day or 2, people would come up with all sorts of questions I would want to ask! Those above are all awesome questions. Here’s a couple that haven’t been asked:

It seems like everyone has there list of “best WP plugins”, and big surprise, although there is some overlap, there’s not total consensus, so your spin on that would be great.

Another one would be how to optimize site download times, including a way to measure those – because I’ve got a fast Fios connection, it’s hard to judge myself.

How about explaining the difference between css and php files? Hints on navigating those…

These are a few questions I have – and although I’m sure there are plenty of this info out there, but I know so many handmade folks out there are just looking for the RIGHT info so we can MAKE BLOG GO and get back to MAKING! ;-)

This last idea is not for me, but I’ll bet it would get lots of folks hot to trot (but it also may be just what you DON’T want to do, so you can do this for $$ instead) would be a how to move a blogger blog to wordpress.

OK, those are my asks for the moment! Thanks for doing this – I’m a huge believer in the what goes around, comes around…and the way you share info is gonna come back to you in all sorts of positive ways, I just know!

I am a complete newie into the world of online shops and blogging and so my question is probably really silly but i’d like to know how having your own domain for a blog or shop is different to having one on blogspot or etsy for example. What difference does it make to you as a owner/writer and what difference does it make to the customer/reader.

I have a ton more that I’m dying to know the answers to, but i’ll just keep reading your blogs and learning

    xx

Hi Tara! Similar to what Jordan said, how to make the blog cute! I just bought your blogging e-book, so I know how to make it interesting, but I want to know how much I can pretty up my Blogger blog. I’m considering buying that book “Blogging for Bliss” for just that reason.

Besides that, perhaps my biggest question concerns the most efficient ways to attract traffic from potential customers.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
